Nick Smailes - Chief Executive Officer
Nick Smailes is PowerOasis’s CEO. He has worked with early stage venture capital funds in the UK and US and with UK Government since 2001 when he set up SETsquared an organisation focussed on developing start-up companies based on industrial and academic IPR. SETsquared has enjoyed successes supporting start-ups raise over £350m, including 5 IPO’s.
Nick founded PowerOasis in 2007 following a longstanding focus on cleantech IPR, specifically clean technologies that can be profitably adopted by industry without relying on Government stimulus. At PowerOasis Nick has brought together a team with deep telecoms network hardware and software experience together with novel renewable power onsite and remote power control technologies.
Nick also works closely with the GSM Development fund supporting their Green Power for Mobile Initiative and helping to raise awareness of the real potential for the economic use of renewables in telecoms networks.
Rhett Ryder - VP Sales and Alliances
Rhett leads the PowerOasis' global sales organisation, both direct and partner channel. Rhett works with Operators, Equipment Providers and Partners who want to implement the best solution for network power management.
He has spent over 20 years in a variety of sales and leadership roles in Telecoms, Mobile and Content Solution providers. He has worked for leading companies including: Prime Computer, Hewlett Packard, Octel Voice Processing (now part of Lucent) and Tertio Telecoms (now part of Evolving systems). At Tertio, Rhett as managing director, led the company through seven years of high growth delivering world leading service activation solutions to fixed and mobile network operators around the world.
Rhett brings extensive experience of delivering innovative and market leading solutions to telecoms operators through working closely with best-in-class partners to ensure our customers receive the optimum solution and service possible.
Pete Bishop - Chief Technical Officer
Pete is CTO of PowerOasis, an innovator and thought-leader in the application of renewable power in telecoms. He has a background in leading edge military radio design and has extensive telecoms knowledge having worked in the Cellular radio industry since 1989 leading teams bringing GSM, UMTS, WiMax and LTE products to market. He has spent the last 4 years developing and trialing micro renewable energy systems in conjunction with University research groups and cellular infrastructure equipment manufacturers.
He is a chartered engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and holds six patents.
Ivan Harris - Chief Marketing Officer
Ivan is a senior manager with 26-years technical and commercial experience with both well established and start-up software and hardware businesses, including 10-years at executive and C-level. He is a commercially focused technologist with a proven track record developing and executing successful product and platform strategies in the computer games, enterprise software and mobile telecommunications industries.
Prior to joining PowerOasis, Ivan was Chief Product Officer at Actix, a provider of Network Performance Engineering and Network Status Management products for mobile network operators globally.
Ivan is Chief Marketing Officer at PowerOasis and is responsible for defining product, service and partner engagement models and for ensuring that our offerings are driving growth for PowerOasis maximising value for our customers.
