System Design & Test
The core engineering team in PowerOasis originated from Motorola Networks in Swindon (UK) and the product solutions have been developed using Motorola development methodologies and best practice. PowerOasis has a core development team of 40 engineers with development backed up by intellectual property.
PowerOasis has filed five families of core patents in telecoms power management, renewable energy control, battery management & charge cycling optimisation.
As power systems are a potential single point of failure in the BTS site, we understand the need for them to be very reliable. The PowerOasis Hybrid Power system employs redundancy in major system components such as battery blocks and rectifier modules to enhance system availability. We subject our products to extreme accelerated life testing and analysis to support our design process in ensuring high reliability.
We also use external test houses to perform EMC and safety testing to gain the CE mark. We perform these tests using the same standards that are applied to base stations. The technical analysis of the SmartHub reliability using the “Relex” tool gives a forecast MTBF of 144,093 hours, we know from past experience this tool tends to give pessimistic results.
We have performed two cycles of ALT testing to date (each equivalent to 10 years field operation ) with multiple samples and experienced no failures at all which supports but does not prove the predicted reliability levels
