Smart Grid

The wireless market continues to develop as consumers embrace smart phones and data requirements increase. Wireless operators continue to increase network capacity, but face the challenge of low revenue growth. Therefore operators wish to reduce their ongoing operation costs and invest in new network architectures which reduce capital expenditures.

Energy costs are increasing and wireless operators continue to explore green power options to reduce network CO2 emissions.  Japan and Germany are decommissioning nuclear energy and wireless operators may need the option to take the network off the grid for time intervals.

The emergence of the Smart Grid and dynamic energy pricing enable operators with an active power management system to optimize their energy footprint. Telecom regulators are considering introducing network power resilience targets so that key telecom sites meet grid autonomy in the event of a disaster or emergency.

PowerOasis SmartHub enables wireless operators to take advange of the Smart Grid today.
